The latest review of Special Stories from App Logopedia

Review Summary:

"Special Stories" can be used together with children to strengthen narrative skills thanks to the possibility of creating personalized stories by inserting photos, recording a vowel, inserting texts written directly from the device on which the app is installed.

The app can also be used as a support for AAC (alternative augmentative communication) with those children who have access to verbal language at all or in part but who have a good symbolic level. In this case the therapist (but also a parent or caregiver) can "lend" his or her voice to record the description related to explaining the story / page topic.

STRONG POINTS: The application is easy and immediate to use by the operator, also thanks to the very simple and clear quick guide present in the app.

The reinforcement of narrative skills is fundamental for a correct linguistic development of the child starting from personal experiences to make learning much more motivating.

It is possible to use the app either one-to-one or in a group. Children take turns telling their "story" in a much more motivating way.

An important feature of special stories is the ability to record the voice. This can provide a valuable assessment to speech therapists to measure patients' progress over time. This also allows feedback to the children themselves, as many of them have never heard their voices. Through listening, it will be possible to help them improve not only articulatory skills, but also to strengthen their confidence in their linguistic and communication skills.

WEAKNESSES: You cannot use a free trial version of the application. In fact, there is only a complete paid version, but it is absolutely worth buying!
