How to Gift an App

Gifting an app is a great way to support children's education, particularly through lockdown when many of us are learning remotely.

We have recently heard from a number of charities and schools interested in gifting our apps to support their members learning at home, and when they return to school and therapy sessions.

Whether you're a charity, school, family or friend, gifting one of our educational apps is a great option for all of us working remotely to provide children with the tools to support their development and continued learning.

Gift an App on the App Store

For iOS user, on the App Store you can gift a specific app. To do this simply head to the App Store on your iPad, iPhone, or iPad Touch, then:

  1. Search for the app you'd like to gift
  2. Tap the Share button on the right hand side, then tap the Gift App button
  3. Enter the email of the person you would like to send the app to. You can also add a message if you'd like to personalise the gift
  4. Your gift will automatically be sent as soon as you buy it, but if you'd like to send it on a specific date, tap Today, then select the date for your gift to be sent, then tap Next
  5. Select a theme for your gift, then tap Next
  6. Tap the Buy button, then tap Buy Now to confirm your purchase of the gift

If you are a business and would like to gift 20 or more of the same app to send to your members, you can explore Apple's Volume Purchase Programme for Business.

Gift an App on Google Play and Amazon Appstore

Google and Amazon don't currently have a way to gift an app directly from their stores. If you would like to gift an app to somone using an Android tablet, Chromebook, or Kindle Fire, you can purchase a Google Play or Amazon giftcard (or an eGift for those on Amazon). With the giftcards, you cannot restrict how the user spends the gift, but you can explain that you'd like it to be used on educational apps.
