Match & Find has a number of configurable settings: it is important to make use of these so you can adapt the app to match your child's ability and inclination.
Some settings apply to all activities, others are specific to each individual activity. Tap the menu button at the top right in the main view to access the settings.
Slide to the left to slow down the pace of all activities, or to the right to speed them up.
If you set Automatic to ON, then each activity will automatically start again when completed.
If this is ON (the default) the name of each object is spoken when tapped (unless it is an incorrect answer).
If this is ON (the default) the words try again are spoken when an incorrect answer is tapped.
If this is ON (the default) the sound of applause is played when an activity is successfully completed.
Changing the background from white to black, and the text colour from black to white or yellow may be helpful for some children with visual impairment.
You can override the default language used for sound and written words within the activities, by selecting any one of the languages included in the app.
The app include a child safety gate (also sometimes called a parental gate, parental lock or parental control), designed to protect children against navigating out of the app and visiting websites with unsuitable content, etc.
The gate is enabled by default, so that whenever you tap a link in the app's built-in help, you are required to enter the answer to a calculation to continue, for example:
9 - 3 + 4 =
To disable the gate, turn this switch OFF. You will at that point be presented with one last calculation to perform, in order to confirm your intention. You can re-visit this setting and turn the switch back ON to re-enable the gate.
Note: The gate cannot prevent the child from leaving the app by pressing the device's home button and then opening another app.
There is a Reset button in the menu of the main view. You can use this to reset all settings to their default values. In other words, this restores the app to its state when first installed, undoing any configuration changes you have made. As a precaution to prevent accidental reset, you will be prompted to enter the word reset to confirm you wish to do this.
You can access these by selecting the name of the activity in the settings from the main view. Alternatively, there is a menu button in each activity that can be used to quickly access its individual settings. See the summary of activities in the next chapter for details.
