Match & Find - find the same Find The Same

This activity displays a set of pictures or written words. Two are the same, and all the rest are different. The aim is to find and tap the two matching objects.

In the activity's settings, you can choose whether to use pictures or written words, and select how many objects are shown on the screen (from 2 x 2 up to 4 x 3).

Match & Find - match the pairsMatch The Pairs

The left hand side of the screen shows a set of objects, one under another. The right hand side shows the corresponding set but in a jumbled order. The idea is to tap both members of each pair in turn.

In the settings, you can chose to match pictures to pictures, pictures to words, or words to words. You can also set how many pairs are displayed (between 2 and 5).

The screenshot on the right shows how the activity looks if you change the app's Colours setting (described in the previous chapter) to use a black background.

Match & Find - where was it?Where Was It?

A set of cards is shown, each with a picture or text. Try to remember their positions, and then tap any one. The cards are then flipped over to show a blank side, and an object corresponding to one of them is shown to the right and its sound is played.

Tap the card that you think matches the object on the right: if you have remembered correctly, the card will flip back over to reveal the matching object. If you were wrong, tap a different card to try again.

In the settings, you can choose to use pictures or words on the cards and either for the object on the right. You can also select how may cards are shown (from 2 x 1 to 4 x 3). You also have the option of just playing the sound of the object to match, and not showing a visible object to the right of the cards, or vice versa.

Match & Find - what is missing? What Is Missing?

A row of cards is shown across the top half of the screen. Try to remember their positions, and then tap any one. The cards are then flipped over to show a blank side, and then all the cards except one are flipped back.

A row of objects then appears across the bottom half of the screen: one of these matches the missing (hidden) object above. Tap the object at the bottom that you think matches the missing one above: if you are correct, the hidden card flips back over and the incorrect objects at the bottom disappear. If you were wrong, tap a different object to try again.

In the settings, you can choose to use pictures or words for the cards at the top and for the objects at the bottom. You can also select how many cards are shown (from 2 to 5).

Match & Find - copy the orderCopy The Order

A row of cards appears across the top half of the screen, one by one, from left to right. Try to remember their positions, and then tap any one. The cards are then flipped over to show a blank side, and the original objects appear in a shuffled order across the bottom half of the screen.

A “?” appears on each of the cards at the top, one at a time, from left to right. When each one appears, tap the object at the bottom that you think was originally shown on the card at the top: if you are correct, the hidden card flips back over and the object you tapped at the bottom disappears. If you were wrong, tap a different object to try again.

In the settings, you can choose to use pictures or words for the cards at the top and for the objects at the bottom. You can also select how many cards are shown (from 2 to 5). In addition, you can choose whether the sound for the object is played when each card first appears. You also have the option of using just sound with blank cards initially, so you have to remember the order you have heard, without seeing the corresponding objects.

Match & Find - find the hidden pairsFind The Hidden Pairs

A set of cards appears in matching pairs but jumbled positions. Try to remember what's on each card, then tap any one to flip them over to show a blank side.

Next tap any card to turn it back over, and then tap the card you think matches it, to turn this over as well. If the cards match you have found the first pair, if they don't the second card will turn back over and you can try again.

Continue pairing the hidden cards until you've revealed them all. Try to complete the activity using as few taps as possible.

In the settings you can choose to match pictures to pictures, words to words or pictures to words. You can also select how many cards are shown (from 4 to 12). There is also an option not to show the cards to start with, but to begin with them turned over (so you have to initially guess what's on them).
